We’re having the Hallocks over for breakfast this morning. They are a great couple with a beautiful little girl (Rebecca Lynn) who is about 3 months younger than Viola. (She was born on Easter.) They will be here any moment, so this will be a shorter post.

Viola is working on crawling right now and actually making forward progress in doing so! The first time she was actually moving forward (previously she could only move backwards or sideways) she was trying to get a pink bean to eat. I’m glad she didn’t inherit my distaste for beans (thank, Mom! 😉 ) She is also pulling herself up on furniture and pretty much anything she can get her hands on to pull up. All of that is very fun and exciting, but it also means a lot of bumps and bruises — especially on the head. But I guess it comes with the territory. I’m trying to remind myself that I can’t protect her from all of that kind of stuff. If she doesn’t go through some bumps and bruises in life, she’ll never learn any lessons or grow and mature. But I still don’t like to see my baby hurting! I’m praying that God gives me the strength and grace I need to let her grow up.
